Vin de France, Belle Léone, Peyre Rose - 2011

  • Provenance: Languedoc-Roussillon
  • Appellation: Vin de France
  • Domain: Marlène Soria
  • Grape variety(ies): Syrah (90%) et mourvèdre
  • On-call time: 20 years
  • Style of wine: Vin de grand terroir
  • Alcohol degree: 14.5%
The nose is particularly dense and enchanting with notes of stone fruit, violets, cold ash and berries. The structure on the palate is both hyper-dense and voluminous, particularly pure in its aromatic profile. The tight, powerful tannins have benefited from a very long maturation. A great wine with stunning substance, full of energy and character. Guide Vert RVF: 93/100

Viticulture

Domaine Peyre Rose is owned by Marlène Soria, who has been making a small range of terroir wines since the early 1990s. Situated on the heights of Saint-Pargoire, it is isolated from urbanisation by a natural wall of garrigue. The 26 hectares are entirely organically farmed and produce a small, highly sought-after crop each year.

Oenology

Aged in vats until the 1998 vintage, then in tuns from the 2002 vintage. No 1999, 2000 or 2001 produced.

Suggestions for accompaniment

Roast leg of suckling lamb, crepinette of offal, sweet garlic jus - Roast pigeon, potato mousseline with olive oil.
