Barolo, Elio Altare - 2017

The estate's single Barolo is without doubt one of the best in the region, and for good reason! It comes from the mythical villages of La Morra (finesse, perfume) and Castiglione Falletto (structure, nervousness), which complement each other wonderfully. The new vintage has produced a wine with well-coated tannins. The tobacco and plum finish is superb.

Technique

Viticulture

Production area: La Morra and Castiglione Falletto. Bottles produced: 12000-13000/year. Vines 20-30 years old. Terroir of complex and mixed geological nature, mixing clay, sand, limestone and marl. Various exposures, mainly south, south-east.

Oenology

Temperature controlled maceration in self-rotating vats for 4/5 days, aged in French barrels for 24 months.

Suggestions for accompaniment

A Chateaubriand entrecote - Beef carpaccio - Veal sweetbreads with truffles.
