"This represents the second edition of this new Riserva from Bruno Rocca. The 2013 Barbaresco Riserva Currà will hit the market this upcoming September. Years ago, back in 1981, Bruno Rocca made a wine with Currà fruit. He micro-vinified from tiny parcels patched together. This wine represents a second incarnation of that first experimental wine. That said, Bruno Rocca has extensive experience with this vineyard cru. Currà tends to produce softer, more velvety fruit compared to Rabajà, the vineyard most famously associated with this family-run estate. Currà has flinty and chalky soils that contribute to the tannic structure of the wine and its long-term aging potential. The wines are fermented in tank and aged in large oak casks. This beautifully fresh and crisp vintage delivers a lasting sense of strength, power and territory-specific character. Wine Advocate, Robert Parker: 96/100; Vinous, A. Galloni: 94+/100

Domain
If there is a world-renowned terroir in Barbaresco, it is Rabajà! When his father died in 1978, Bruno Rocca returned to the family estate created in the 1950s. At the time, the estate only covered 5 hectares and still bottled few wines under its label. But things have changed since then and he now works with his son Francesco, an oenologist, and his daughter Luisa, who is in charge of marketing. The estate now boasts 15 hectares of vines, 5 of which are in Rabajà, making it the largest owner of the area. The soil here is a mixture of clay, tuff, marl and limestone. The exposure varies from southwest to south and the altitude from 260 to 315 metres. The vines are on average 40 to 50 years old and are grown organically, but without certification.
