Rosso di Montalcino, Le Potazzine - 2019

  • Provenance: Tuscany
  • Appellation: Rosso di Montalcino
  • Domain: Gigliola Giannetti
  • Grape variety(ies): Sangiovese grosso
  • On-call time: 10 years
  • Alcohol degree: 14%
The Sangiovese grosso is carefully cultivated by the Gorelli family, vinified in long maceration and then aged in tuns. The result is a wine with a moving aroma of spices and kirsch. The attack is refined, with a full, suave body that unfolds on a soothing, high-class finish. Unquestionably, this is one of the best Rosso di Montalcino ever!

Viticulture

Potazzine is a very traditional family estate that works with respect for its grape variety and terroir and strives to respect the nature and soul of the wines that have made the reputation of this region. Two distinct plots are at the origin of this wine: Le Prata, with a south-east exposure at an altitude of 500 m.; Le Torre, with a south-west exposure at 320 m. Cordon de royat cultivation, 5952 vines/ha.

Oenology

Fermentation takes place spontaneously, through the work of indigenous yeasts, maceration lasts 28 to 30 days, then the wine is matured in 10, 30 and 50 hl. tuns for 8 to 10 months. It is kept for 4 to 6 months in the cellar before being marketed.

Suggestions for accompaniment

Parmigiana - Moroccan style lamb - Pappardelle with wild boar.
