Viticulture
This property, run by Nicolas Thienpont and advised by Stéphane Derenoncourt, is located on the very late eastern limestone plateau of St-Emilion, not far from Troplong-Mondot. Les rLes Chêne de Macquin is the second wine of Pavie Macquin.
Oenology
The soil has a very strong clay texture ("terres amoureuses"), a cold soil that quickly turns austere if the maturity is not ideal. A lot of work has been done in the vineyard (part of it has been biodynamic since 1990).
