Château Marsau, Côtes de Bordeaux Francs (magnum) - 2017

Black fruit on the nose with a hint of cocoa. Spherical body, very pulpy with a consistent texture. It develops on a very nice tannic base, with gritty tannins. The finish is expansive, delicious, with notes of cherry. Bravo ! Guide Vert RVF : 91/100

Viticulture

The Marsau vines cover 13 hectares on one of the highest points of the appellation, with a clay-limestone terroir with a high clay content that is perfectly suited to Merlot. Today the soils are no longer worked and the Domaine is in organic conversion.

Oenology

After manual harvesting and careful sorting, the vinification process is temperature-controlled. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels and other containers of various sizes and materials.

Domain
A few kilometres east of St-Emilion, not far from the village of Francs, facing the Montaigne region, the Marsau vines occupy one of the highest points of the appellation. In this setting of preserved biodiversity, on slopes facing south, the vines sink their roots into clay soils ideally suited to Merlot. But here, this grape variety behaves a little differently from other parts of the Bordeaux vineyard, as its berries remain very small, bluish, rich in bloom, a little like Cabernets. They give birth to a wine of transcendent finesse, magnified by the careful and expert hands of Anne-Laurence and Mathieu Chadronnier, his "parents".
