Viticulture
The origins of Lafon-Rochet date back to the 16th century, when it was part of a vast estate belonging to the rich merchant Janot Bernard de Leyssac. Remarkably located near Lafite, Cos Labory and Cos d'Estournel, Lafon-Rochet is set in the middle of a 40 hectare single vineyard on Günzian gravel on a sandy-clay subsoil. The average age of the vines is 30 years. Density of 9'200 vines/ha.
Oenology
The two-week alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, regulated at a temperature of 30°C. The extraction is done by pumping over. The malo is done in vats and barrels. The ageing continues the vinification with 20 months in new barrels for 50%.
