Duende, Maurice Zufferey & Jacques Perrin - 2017

A meditative, enigmatic and luminous white. A wine with a contemporary aesthetic, but which is part of an ancient history. That of the Valaisan grape varieties. That of vinifying whites in the same way as reds, which was common in the Valais in the past. The aroma unfolds with notes of pepper, slightly candied yellow fruit, incense and black cardamom. Its texture is reminiscent of the great white wines of Hermitage. Duende is not a thirst-quenching wine or a distracted aperitif, but an inspirational wine with a dimension of sitting and depth that demands inner attention. This is a wine that lends itself to many gastronomic pairings and can be enjoyed now, but will evolve gracefully for at least 10 years. Serve aired at 12-14°.
