Back Appellation from the Loire Valley in the Centre region. Production area located about 60 kilometres south-east of Orléans, on the right bank of the Loire, more precisely within 6 communes in the Loiret department and 8 in the Nièvre department. Classified as an AOC in 1998. Area under production: just over 150 hectares. The total area covered is 765 hectares. White grape varieties: Sauvignon Blanc; reds: Gamay and Pinot Noir, each of which must not exceed 80%. Rosé and red wines must be made from a blend of these two grape varieties. A small quantity is vinified as white wine, with most being vinified as rosé and red wine. These wines can be kept, but should be drunk young, within 5 years. Ideal serving temperature: between 8 and 10°C for white and rosé wines; between 15 and 16°C for red wines. Pair with: white with asparagus tart; rosé with cold meats or grilled meats; red with red meat in sauce or lamb kidneys.
