Definition: Salvagnin

Name given to a high-quality red wine from Vaud (AOC), made from Pinot Noir or a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay. Like Dorin, a name used for a time as the family name of Vaud Chasselas, the designation Salvagnin for Vaud red wine (Pinot-Gamay) is rarely used, yet it is less common than Pinot-Gamay.
