Definition: Queue

In distillation, the final extract of lesser quality, discarded, like the heads, from the heart, the best part of the run. Syn.: small waters, phlegms.

Vin de queue: also a lower quality wine obtained by pressing all available grapes, even spoiled ones.

In Champagne, a cask with a capacity of 216 litres, also called a pièce; in Burgundy, a measure of capacity equal to 456 litres, or 2 pièces or 228-litre barrels.
